Bach to Play in Bay Side Home Court
Preparations for the second Bay Badminton Championship in San Francisco, California is now being stirred, starting with local contended, Howard Bach.
The Bay Badminton Championship serves as an appreciated opportunity for Bach to visit his hometown. Bach made his debut to the national badminton arena when he was only sixteen years old. From his unveiling to the local media, Bach has been unstoppable in his victories as well as his rigid trainings. The opportunity to grace his Bay Side home in San Francisco is a welcomed respite.
In an interview, Bach narrates the start of his interest in badminton. He was about five years old when he first held a badminton racket. It was his father who introduced the sport to him, and eventually taught him the basics in the YMCA gym along Golden Gate Avenue in his home town. When Bach transferred to Colorado Springs, Colorado during his high school years, he devoted his time to a new and highly intensive badminton training program of the Olympic Training Centre.
Bach’s career in badminton was ensued by his success in the men’s doubles. His performance in single matches was limited by his tall frame, as he discovered earlier.
Bach became an internationally recognized badminton player when he competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Representing the United States, he made an unforgettable performance that he soon bested in the 2008 Olympics held in Beijing, China. In the latter tournament, Bach paired with Bob Malaythong and made it to the best eight. The pair lost in the third round of the match. One of Bach’s better performances in the doubles division must be in the World Championship held in the Arrowhead Pond Area in Southern California. While playing in his hometown proved to be to his favour, we have yet to find out if he goes to a winning streak in this year’s tournament.
